Malwarebytes Anti-Malware removal tool is by far the best virus/trojan removal tool out there for free.

You should never run any computer without a good anti-virus program like McAfee or Norton. But even these great anti virus programs let some viruses and trojans slip through.

They have a free version and a pay version. This is one of the only virus/trojan removal tools out there that the free version works just as good as the pay version. So feel free to download the free version here.

After you download the tool, install it by double clicking the icon. Just click next during the install and leave everything default. The last step in the install will ask if you want to update and start the program. Leave both these checked and as I said leave everything default.

Make sure you left the update and start program checked at the last step of the install. After you click finish to complete the install, the program will automatically update and the program will start a few seconds (up to 30 seconds depending on the speed of your computer).

Now you should see the screen below when the program starts.

Just like the install, you want to leave everything on the program as default settings. You don’t mess with any of the settings. The program works fantastic as it is.

Just a note: The only time you ever have to touch any settings on the program is to check for updates. About once a month click the “Update” tab and click check for updates.

The company who makes this program is very keen on keeping up with the viruses and trojans out there. They seem to update a lot. So checking for updates once a month is sufficient.

Okay now start your scan. Make sure “Perform Quick Scan” is checked and click the “Scan” button. Don’t change it to perform full scan, this is unnecessary. The program will find the same things whether you choose quick or full scan.

Now you should see the screen below during the scan.

Let the scan finish. It should take about 5-20 minutes depending on the speed of your computer and how badly infected it is. Don’t worry the scan doesn’t take a long time like your normal anti-virus software would. It’s quick and painless.

When the scan is done you will see the screen below.

The program will tell you the scan is completed and how many infected files it found. Now click on the “Show Results” tab at the bottom right. You should see a screen like the one below.

This screen shows you all the infected files it found. Amazingly, this program will find and destroy even the toughest viruses and trojans out there. Not bad for free!

Make sure all the malware the program found is checked. Now click the “Remove Selected” button. The program will remove all the items in question.

Note: Don’t worry it won’t find anything you don’t want to delete. So make sure everything it finds is checked to be removed.

After it removes the malware, you will see a screen like the one below.

The program will create a log, like the one shown. It will list everything it found and the information can be quite useful to a technician. Feel free to close out the notepad or save it.

Now the program will tell you that your system needs to be rebooted in order for the changes to take effect. Click the “yes” button to restart your computer.

Restart your computer and “BAM”, your system will be malware free!

This program will Even find the killer vondu trojan, which would usually end up in a re-format/repair install of the operating system. It’s another reason I love this program. It will save you hours in repair time.

I hope this program helps you all. Some viruses and trojans can’t be found with just one anti virus program running. It does happen, even if you think you have the best anti-virus software. I don’t care how much you pay for a good anti-virus program. You will always have something slip through the cracks.

I recommend this program along with any top notch anti-virus program out there.
